The fan series started from accepting another challenge, to make a typically fragile object from glass. These fans are reasonably robust. but they are too heavy and fragile to use as fans. The key difficulty in each of them is the crossing junction where the fan stems meet; the stems are inclined to move in the kiln before fusing, and the crossover can end up an overlarge blob.
