Stitching & Beyond was started by Mahdi Chandler and Wendy Koolhof to bring together people interested in textile arts in Tasmania and keep them informed of events throughout the State.  From two people, the group has now over 100 members. Meetings are held monthly and an exhibition is now held every two years.

2007
The first time I took part in a Stitching & Beyond Exhibition was in 2007 when I submitted the Haunted House I had made for Machine Embroidery and Textile Arts magazine and a multi media piece of fish chasing each other which I called Catch me if you can.  This piece was sold at the exhibition and went to a good home in Launceston, Tasmania.

In February  Stitching and Beyond's exhibition was at the Off Centre Gallery in Salamanca in Hobart.  Seventeen of us exhibited works in this little gallery, and there is a very diverse body of work. I submitted my Rose Window 1 and 2 which were made for the Playways on the Net course run by thethreadstudio.com and two new pieces, Family Ties and Memories.

The exhibition in November/December was at at Clarence Council's Rosny Barn with 82 entries from 34 participants.  My entries were a fully lined silk and chiffon Misty Grey jacket after designer Elie Tahari, a fully lined Fiery Copper bolero in metallic material, both with extensive automatic machine embroidery and a Sunset landscape on bi-coloured polyester, chiffon and organza with free machined features.
