EMBROIDERY
2010
January 2010 saw My Aussie Centrepiece in Vol 16 No 6.  The flowers were made from textiles and wire.  kangaroo Paws used tubular ribbon, Flannel Flowers some white felt and Christmas Bells were made from velvet.  Leaves were cut from silk paper, while ferns were stitched on heat soluble stabiliser.  Teabags covered the large sponge to form a base.
February 2010 was the month in which the orange bellied parrot was published in Vol 16 No 7. He was on a background of scrunched, painted calico.  The photo was from the public domain, copyright free website www.ozanimals.com and transferred to the calico.  The parrot was then embellished with wool tops and his stomach area stuffed from the back.
My last article for the magazine, All Set to Dazzle, was published in May 2010 and I was fortunate in having it featured on the cover. The necklace was inspired by a Chanel enamel necklace, but the flowers were all made from free machining with Mettler threads on organza and then were attached to a silver thread grid.  This in turn was hand stitched to a silver necklace. Some of the flowers had bead embellishments.
My grateful thanks to Editor Yvonne Keen for her unswavering support and friendship throughout the years in which I contributed to the magazine. Although I took all the working photographs, I would like to thank the photographers who took the styled pictures, the stylists, the beautiful models and anyone else who was involved.

Thanks too to McCalls for their provision of the fabulous Mettler thread and Vogue, Butterick and McCalls patterns for my projects, and for running competitions in association with some of my articles. My thanks also go to The Thread Studio and Punch with Judy for their  support and occasional sponsorship.
