The following is from the EAA21 web site:
Aim of Organization
The EEA21 Association is organized by the ecology-minded artists who are conscious of the serious issue of the global environment and are eager to tackle this problem. They are banded together not by the artist groups and the forum of painting world but by the heart to love the earth.
The circumstance surrounding Japan's "art" cannot be described to be better off than the western counterpart. However, nothing can be created only by lamenting the present conditions. It is the artists of the EEA21 that have determined to do something in an effort to improve the current situation. What they considered is that it is more important to find a way of how to contribute to the society beyond a mere hope for aid to "art" from the society. Their conclusion is a need for the action to arouse the consciousness about the global environment issue with "art" as a medium.
Activity of EEA21association can roughly be divided into two kinds. One introduces the organization and its activity of"Environmental art" hardly known in Japan. "Environmental art" is established in Europe and America because all sectors cooperate mutually. We have to change the fixed concept of Art old [ of Japan ] and bad. And prejudice is wiped away. Moreover, reconsideration is urged about the relation of art and society.
One of the two begins an arts exhibition, and is already the education educational activities of the consciousness of earth environment preservation protection. Many sectors which tackle environmental education activity and environmental preservation activity in Japan. Sharing their mutual knowledge and experience, various occurrences are planned. Consciousness reform is required of an artist and appreciation people.
Purpose of Exhibition
The art exhibition "Ecology Earth Art 21" is projected with a hope that the "power" of art that rides over all the barriers such as human race, religion and language will serve as a springboard for building up a better global environment.
A combination of education on the need for the protection and preservation of global environment and promotion of art culture is expected not only to have a synergy but also to make a wide-range social contribution such as education of children on the environment, positive participation in the social activities by the aged people and elimination of friction among East Asia nations. Such motion will lead to a better understanding of the roles of artist and the need for them. As a result a circumstance to help the artists to get more respect will be provided. This will serve to expand their contribution to the society for constructing a mentally affluent future society.

I was invited to have one of my sea urchins made entirely from thread exhibited in the Ecology Earth Art 21 exhibition which was held in Saitama modern museum near Tokyo in August 2006 . This is an exhbition which appeals for global environmental protection. Europe, Asia, the adult, the child, calligraphy and sculpture are included in the 200 art works which EEA21 has chosen to be shown in large exhibitions. The governments of Japan and Australia have supported this exhibition in a year of exchange. A most beautiful catalogue was produced. Another invitation was for me to submit a piece for exhibition in Kyoto museum in January 2007. A gorgeous book was published about both exhibitions.
This beautiful catalogue showcased the work of 200 artists - 23 of them Australian
Following the Tokyo exhibition I was invited to send another piece to be exhibited in the Ecology Earth Art 21 exhibition which was held in Kyoto Museum in January 2007 so sent my Tacky Tassel which was made for an ATASDA Challenge as it was made entirely from recycled materials. Another beautiful catalogue was produced.
After the Ecology Earth Art 21 exhibitions in Tokyo and Kyoto a hard cover book was printed recognising the combined project between the Japanese and Australian governments which tried to teach the need to love the Earth and do what we can to save it ecologically. This beautiful book has photographs of some of the works displayed during the exhibitions. I was honoured to have a photograph of me in this book, representing the Australian Textile and Surface Design Association.
A letter was sent to Prime Minister Howard of Australia from EAA21 asking him to take action to preserve the forests of Tasmania for future generations.
In June 2006 Mr Yokozawa, vice president of EAA21, and his team went to Cairns, Qld Australia to explain to children at the Cairns Regional Gallery that EAA21 is a non profit, non government organization based in Japan. He emphasised the importance of "recycle, re-use and reduce".
